Bloating is an anomaly in health condition of belly feeling swollen after eating. It sometimes becomes annoying with an unusual irritation and discomfort in digestive system feeling increased pressure in the abdomen.

  • Excess production of gas.

  • Disturbance in muscle movement of digestive system.

Preventive Action To Reduce/ Eliminate Bloating

Avoid excess eating

Due to limited capacity of the stomach, if one is taking excess amount food at a time, this will result in increased pressure in the abdomen causing bloating. So to decrease bloating one should not fill stomach with excess stuff rather to go for small amount of meal multiple times. This will reduce the tendency of bloating.







Avoid swallowing of foods producing gas

  • To avoid bloating drinks like soda, fizzy drinks should not be consumed as these contain bubbles with CO2 gas causing bloating.

  • Certain foods like dairy product, high fiber foods, and fatty foods are sometime difficult to digest and hence produce gases in stomach. These certain foods should be cut down from meal to decrease bloating.


Digestive Enzymes Supplement

There are some supplements containing digestive enzymes to breakdown indigestible carbohydrates and help to decrease bloating.

  • Lactase: This enzyme decomposes lactose reducing sensitivity to lactose intolerance.

  • Beano: This contains alpha-galactosidase enzymes to break down indigestible carbohydrates of various foods.


Probiotic Supplement

Gas formed by Intestine bacteria is major cause of bloating. To alleviate this swelling one can take probiotic supplements to decrease bloating by reducing gas.

  • Don’t be constipated

  • Take peppermint oil

  • Walking after meal
